Dad to Michael: We are watching Les Miserable 25th anniversary. Its were they are in full custom but are coming up to mics and belting out the songs, powerful, I'm thinking of you while watching it, Daniel's singing his heart out April not so much, but belting it!! lol. Did you get the photo from last week? did I miss any, mom has been burning stuff to DVD's to get more room on the computer and I think the Riddler is on one of them and she can't find it, at this writing. I'll keep trying. I told everyone in High Priest how your doing and Brother Goudy says Hi. He reads your blog every week. Hope all is well, Mom and I pray every morning for those in your area that they will be ready to meet you and your companion's message. And for you that you may be ready to know who they are, find them! You are amazing? I love you very much!! Dad.
Michael to Dad: Sounds like a blast! I miss those days of just blasting songs in the car! I just sing hymns now! But I get a lot of practice with those!

Things are progressing well! Juan Carlos will be baptised on the 26th! So, Happy Birthday to Mick! It´s his gift to know that someone will be making life changing covenants and entering into the straight and narrow path on his B-Day!!! Cool gift huh?! This kid is awesome! He´s so smart! He loves reading and learning, and his Mom (Rosa) is really nice! And the plan now is that after his baptism, he can receive the Priesthood and baptise his Mom once she gets married! And they are both really excited about that! Through them we have also found and are teaching Rosa´s sister Beatrice and a cousin of Carlos, Joanna! And they are great wonderful people as well progressing nicely! We are also working a lot with less active members and it really gets frustrating at times. We recently talked with one who we found was pretty much just baptised for the missionaries, maybe even because she just had a crush on them and she was just looking for any accusation she could make... really quite sad. Saying it´s just an American religion and we have a different culture down here and that Joseph Smith was just a yankee that wanted to start his own church! We get called yankees a bit, it´s kind of funny.
I´ve gotten some valentine letters, the one with all the scripture hearts and Alana´s valentine, and the one with Daniel´s letter and April´s Valentine! Good stuff! And I was actually going to tell you I need another card because this one is about filled!!! So... NICE!
Man.... I miss good American pizza, you can find real good pizza here, but it´s not the same and it´s not common, and expensive! So ya, we´ll have to go to Doc´s when I get back! And because there is root-beer there as well!!!! :) :) :)
I noticed that it was President´s Day today with my new calendar! If I didn´t have it, I probably would have forgotten all about President´s day! I´m moving a little slower through the Bible, I´m in chapter 33 mas o menos in Ezekiel... But That´s because I´ve been reading other stuff as well, I´m about half way through the teachings of the prophet Joseph Smith book! REALLY GOOD STUFF!!! I´ve been learning a lot about the prophet recently and I am groing even a deeper and more profound respect for him than I had before. Really a great man!
I also think that sometimes we are led to people that we really can´t teach, but it helps us realize our falts and humble ourselves and improve.... opposition in all things!
Alright, other little things that have happend lately!......One of the other missionaries here in Dolores got really sick and went to the hospital... while he was there we took some shifts so his companion could get some sleep, so that night I swapped him places at 3 in the morning and stayed until the morning so he could go sleep. Then, so he could go to the zone conference we had, abunch of members in the ward took shifts and watched the Elder while his comp went with us. Turns out they couldn´t really find anything wrong with him.... they said either he had a lot of stress or was missing home too much! But he´s out and working now, just taking it easy. The zone conference was really good, it was all about the Atonement! And I got to give a little talk, it was really nice and a great opportunity. I shared a story about a couple missionaries teaching and they were asked by a very excited and happy lady what is your favorite thing about your church, and one said living prophets, the other said personal revelation, then the lady lost here excitement and her smile went away and she said, oh... my favorite thing about my church is that sinners can be forgiven because Jesus died and suffered for them. The missionaries felt really bad afterwards. That wasn´t a personal experience, but I´ve had one similar. Sometimes we hear about it all too much or we look for the more unique things about our church and we fail to realize the very center and rock is Christ and His Atonement. Random Atonement fact.... Getsemani actually means oil press, what they used to squeeze the oil out of the olives, it gives ironic meaning to the blood that was spilled from Christ. Other things that happened... we contacted an Arabian named Hussan! And someone told us that they wanted to tar and feather us.....we didn´t even get upset we just were amazed that we actually heard that. Well... I´m probably forgetting something, but that´s all I can think of for right now!
So the photos .... we´ve got Rosa and her sister Beatrice at a Noche de Hogar (FHE) that we had, me being crushed on the bunk bed because my companion is pushing the pounds I guess (JK), and then my handy dandy workman photo when we repaired the bed... and the Elder Hancock sign that´s still hanging up! :) I hope you enjoy the photos! HAPPY DIA DE LOS ENAMORADOS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Ya the parrot was a pet, there are actually a lot of pet parrots! And some of them talk, but they say bad words....... :(
Carlos now has his date for the 26th so his father can be there but it is pretty much set in stone now! He is cruising along! He could be teaching me about the doctrine! His Mother is also working on divorce paper stuff so she can get married and then get baptised, it´s quite the process! The other day we had a great lesson with them and our bishop on chastity, fasting, and tithing! The bishop ended up teaching a lot and did it very well! He talked about how we can love our future spouses even before we get to know them! Just by keeping ourselves pure! I really liked that thought! And it was a great lesson!
I can´t believe the Foreigner has already come up! That was soooooo fast!
Anyhow, sorry this is shorter! We have a FHE to go to, but all is good out here!

It has been a good week! Really long, but really quick at the same time! I wish I could have been at the court of honor.... but I´m where I need to be! I´m proud of my bro..... his chops are lookin a little too unruly though :) ha ha! Sounds like quite the process!
I´m sure a lot has happened this last week, but I´ll just share the best parts, besides a parrot pooping on me! Our saturday was quite the tough day..... it was one of the hottest days, if not ´the´ hottest day I´ve had out here, everything we had fell through, we also were fasting and low on energy! and we were getting rejected quite hard...... we actually had to take a breather at the house and we made a cake for an Hermana in the ward that was having her cupleaños! That we booked it out delivered the cake and continued the day, hot and sweaty we were having a hard time finding the drive, but we continued.... and as we reached the end of the day the little miracles started! So Carlos and Rosa (the 2 that went to church) told us that they would be out of town for quite a long time. Somehow, after getting kicked out of a lesson with a less active member because she had to cook!, we just happened to pass by Rosa´s daughter heading home from work, we asked about the trip and found out they didn´t go! So.... last lesson of the day, we ran by! Somehow we were able to swing by a member and got her to acompany us! Which is easier said than done! And we got to the house, and it just so happened that they invited a friend, someone who had been contacted earlier by missionaries, but they never found her in her house! So we had a very nice lesson with them all and the member about a great many things! The Restoration, Prophets, Relief Society, the Liahona, geneology, fasting and more! It was great! and the greater miracle! ALL three of them made it to church the next day! Carlos has a date for the 19, and I hope soon the others will have one as well! Oh.. it just goes to show you that God does bless us for the work we do... first comes the test of our faith and endurance, then comes the miracles and blessings! This is God´s work, even when sometimes it is hard to see, it is his work and he does bless us when we work and strive and perseverar hasta el fin! I love this church and it does bless lives for those who accept and embrace it.
And yes, the time does fly! An Hermana yesterday told me that 10 (now 11) days have already gone by since my 1 year mark! Oh, it flies!

First of all, my camera just died, so no photos this week either!
Well I´m lovin it here in Dolores so far! My new comp is Elder George from Utah as well! Provo area! And he´s a lot more obedient and hard working than the last comp so I´m really excited to work with him! Just in the last few days we´ve done more work and had more lessons than 2 weeks of work with my last comp!
Also, I´m in an actual ward again! Not just a branch! I haven´t been in a ward since Cerro! And we actually have a ward mission leader!! I haven´t had one since Cerro as well, but the difference is, this one actually does stuff! I had my first correlation meeting with the mission leader ever in my one year, the first one!!! The ward is great, the Bishop, it´s big! We had about 70-80 members in church!!! We did divisions with some of the priesthood leaders already! Great stuff! I´m excited! We also cleaned up the house really good and redid the map with the pin system.... good stuff! We actually share the ward with another pair of elders too, but different houses. Anyhow, I´m a lot happier, working more, it´s just awesome! A really good zone with people that are just more humble nice and wanting to work.
I did wake up my first morning with 65 mosquito bites though... I´ve been using bug spray since! This last sacrament meeting was one of the best I´ve been to... not sure exactly why, but just the new larger ward, atmosphere, being new to the area I shared my testimony with everyone and then two of the other elders actually had talks and the mission leader. gooooooooood stuff! Ya........ this week I hit half way!.................loco...............demasiado rapido!
I'm still in Jeremiah. He´s actually a really cool prophet, never knew much about him before.... he was always obedient to the command of the Lord, even when he knew it wouldn´t turn out all that great for himself, he still trusted in the Lord!
Anyhow, I´m just excited for the new change and the work! That´s pretty much it for now! Be good! Send me photos! Keep reading and praying with real intent!

I´ve actually already got quite a few photos on this card. I don´t have the camera with me right now, so I can´t send the photos of the BAPTISM we just had! You can call it a miracle if you want! I think it is! Danny got baptised January 15 (my lucky number) by Elder Hancock, and confirmed the following day by Elder Sanhueza! What a great journey it has been to come to Rosario and work with him and his recently baptised wife. They really have great faith and testimonies, they study the scriptures together and really just want to have the love that Christ has and taught. The water was cold! But we didn´t feel it... just the Spirit!
Apart from that I´ve had a few experiences this last week, too many to tell all but a prayer that was one of the most spiritual I´ve ever had, many little experiences that have taught me about charity and little acts of love, lessons of forgiveness and service and the importance of the plan of Salvation and another Investigator, Karen, has accepted to be baptised, so hopefully that will happen a little later on in the future!
I´m reading now in Jeremiah 30, and I´ve been going through Ensigns like tissue paper! It´s great stuff!
Oh, and we got our changes last night and I´m leaving already! I´m going to Dolores 1 in the Zone of Mercedes! And my new comp will be Elder George, I don´t really know him, but I hear he´s a fun guy! I hope he has a desire to obey as well! Danny is now working on getting the Priesthood and hopefully going to the temple with his wife and the branch in February! And In a year from now when they go to the temple to be married, I´ll still be in the mission, and maybe I´ll get to go, it would be an amazing way to finish off the mission! Oh.... good stuff!

Well, to start off, the pictures are of me and my bud Luciano! At his B'day party!, a bat that decided to visit us!, the zone, and then me having a sleep over at Pres. Heaton´s house!!! We got to spend the night there during the training! It was the first time so far in the mission I´ve felt carpet under my bare'feet!
Dani is doing great! Satan is really working hard against him, his wife´s daughter was caught cheating on her husband recently, so they´ve been dealing with that, and his job has been really brutal, he raises pigs to be slaughtered! But he still keeps the faith! He´s quit smoking as of yesterday and is getting baptised the 15th! We are really happy for him!
I gave my 2nd talk in the mission. I talked on forgiveness, because it is really needed here. From what I´ve gathered... Rosario has suffered a bit. They used to have about 150 members back in the day, then they changed buildings and presidents and things just went down hill.... alot of missionaries have been here that just baptised what they could, many people who didn´t have testimonies and weren´t ready.... so they all fell away, either because they were offended... or they just think they´ve done enough and they are too lazy! We had a pretty intense lesson with an inactive lady and her daughter... basically they just didn´t like things that were going on in the church and left, after going to the temple and having lots of callings.... just don´t want to go anymore. Made the mistake of thinking they´ve done enough and think they are going to the Celestial Kingdom igual....... I don´t think anyone can say it for themselves.... it´s just sad... that´s the long story short. We won´t be visiting them again sadly cause it´s just wasting our time unfortunately. Rosario is just full of upset inactives that never had testimonies.... never really understood. I sit and look out the upstairs window sometimes and think 'oh Rosario'! It´s quite difficult here... Colonia in general is a harder area, but I know God is blessing me and working with me and when he has tried me I shall come forth as gold..... I hope.
My comp and I talked.... he basically told me that he knows he´s not following the rules and he´s just upset about how the mission is ran....

We had permission to stay out until 10:30, so we had dinner with our branch president, stuffed myself too much and thought I´d die, but we actually went to bed at about 11pm, but we were awakened by all the fireworks anyways, but shortly after I fell asleep again. New Years day we met with some of the other missionaries in Colonia, including the senior couple, I don´t know if I told you there´s a senior couple in Colonia, anyways, they whipped up some hamburgers and other good foods, and we played some games like Rage, and Jenga, then some volleyball and futbol! It was a really fun P-day and just really tranquil.
I am actually happy that the holliday stuff is all ended, hopefully the people will have less excuses now to reject us :)
We gave Dani a date for the 8th, and he accepted, but in our next visit after the New Year he said he needed more time. They went to visit some really good friends for new years and apparently they got in a fight... they didn´t tell us, but we´re guessing that it had something to do with the decision to get baptised and all, he is down to 4 ciggaretts, but he says he needs time to calm himself and asked us to please be patient with him... we told him that´s fine, we´re good with patience. We shared D&C 121:7-8, talking about how these trials will be but a small moment.... shared some personal experiences and it was a good lesson.
Our fast and testimony meeting was the shortest fast and testimony meeting ever, it was the first time for me to end church early because there was no one left to give their testimony.... all 10 of us bore our testimony and there was still half an hour left... so we just ended early. But it was still a good lesson.
We just got back from Montevideo today, we went to missionary training thing, the same one I went to before, but my comp hadn´t been and there were odd numbers so I got to go again, it was actually really great to here it all again, and I got to talk with the Pres about some problems with my comp.... he´s a good guy, but he just doesn´t really care about following the rules, I´ve just been feeling really down and guilty lately because I know that a lot of time has been waisted and abunch of other things, but I don´t want to dwell on that, after talking with the pres.... poor pres, he had to send a missionary home the other day for breaking rules and just has to deal with a lot, but he´s a great man and full of the Spirit and love, a great example for me. After talking with him, I´ve just gotta try and push my comp, but be patient as well, he told me I won´t be with him long, but I´ve just got to do the best I can to get him to work while I´m still his comp, he´s pretty aware of everything, and apparently it´s a big problem in our mission, lots of missionaries who are waisting time and don´t want to work. But we´re going to try our best to change that.
I´m happy to hear about Elder Erickson and how he´s doing in Paradise!

I am actually happy that the holliday stuff is all ended, hopefully the people will have less excuses now to reject us :)
We gave Dani a date for the 8th, and he accepted, but in our next visit after the New Year he said he needed more time. They went to visit some really good friends for new years and apparently they got in a fight... they didn´t tell us, but we´re guessing that it had something to do with the decision to get baptised and all, he is down to 4 ciggaretts, but he says he needs time to calm himself and asked us to please be patient with him... we told him that´s fine, we´re good with patience.
